One of my proudest moments

-

fall to the Black Cats allowed Swansea to leapfrog move out of the bottom three. Crystal Palace’s thrashing at Manchester City also throws Sam Allardyce & Co into the relegation battle.

Clement said: “It is one of my proudest moments.

“What a fantastic, gritty performance.

“It was so important we got that result today after what happened at Hull. It gave us a lift before the game knowing that result had gone in our favour. We knew if we did something special we could get out of the relegation zone.

“We had a meeting last week and said: ‘Whatever happens with Hull, we need to win to maintain that two-point gap if they win.

“But in the dressing room beforehand we said: ‘You’ve got an opportunity now – don’t waste it.’ Seven points from three games is a great tally.”

Swansea’s players are paying for 3,000 fans to go to Wearside next week for their final away fixture.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman said: “Swansea fought for their lives. They are fighting relegation.”
