HARRIS: DON’T WRITE US OFF

- By DARREN WITCOOP

NEIL HARRIS believes his promotion-chasing Millwall players are at their most dangerous when written off.

Millwall will be underdogs for tonight’s semi-final play-off at Glanford Park after Scunthorpe ground out a goalless draw on Thursday night. It leaves Scunthorpe, who finished nine points above Millwall in the League One table, as strong favourites on home soil.

But Harris (right) has already masterminded shock FA Cup wins over Premier League sides Watford, Bournemouth and Leicester this season and is backing his players to overcome the odds again.

The Lions manager said: “We have the mentality to come through big games.

“We have shown that several times, and will need to show that again.

“We have been at our best when we have been the underdogs this season.

“That was clear in the FA Cup games. We raised our game. That big-game mentality is there.

“As long as we stay focused, resilient and work hard, then we stand a good chance. There is nothing for us to fear, and we go into the game in confident mood.

“It’s only half-time in the tie and I have been reminding the players of that.”

Scunthorpe stood up to the physical challenge in south London, and Iron defender Murray Wallace is expecting a similar bombardment. He said: “They have shown this season that they can score all sorts of goals.

“But at whatever stage of the game, we know they will cause us problems and we will have to defend well to keep them at bay.

“It’s all to play for, but hopefully we can get the job done.”
