I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2006 and have had increasing amounts of medication to control it.

I recently applied for an endoscopic procedure which tackles the underlying issue of insulin resistance.

The Revita procedure, altering the inner surface of part of the small intestine to change how your body processes sugar, took an hour under anaesthetic. All I had afterwards was a sore throat from the tubes.

I will have follow-ups for the next year to see how it has worked. But in just a few weeks, my blood sugar levels are already in the normal range and I’ve lost nearly a stone. Rahul Kumar, 46, London
