You’ll have bags of luck with tomatoes

-

Why are tomatoes often grown in bags? – David Mason, Poynton, Cheshire DAVID: Because they are very susceptible to soil-borne diseases, tomatoes need fresh soil every year. The easiest way around that is to use off-the-shelf grow bags. And they’re so convenient to buy and store too. But you can grow them in large pots as long as you use fresh soil and ensure they are sterilised at the start of the season.
