THE PENDER OUR MISERY

- BY PAUL KEANE

SEAN PENDER has admitted that Offaly hit their Championship rock bottom against Tyrone four years ago. The Faithful slumped to a 22-point loss to Tyrone in the opening round of qualifiers and exited the Championship in embarrassing fashion. They leaked an even worse 6-22 in this year’s League against Armagh though bounced back to retain their Division Three status. Pender said: “There were a few years in the doldrums but we’re getting back on the right track now with the management setup we have. Hopefully we can keep going forward. “Losing to Tyrone in the qualifiers in O’connor Park by a cricket score was the low point, that is the thing that set everything in motion for us. “Everybody had a real look at things, from county board level down to players and management, after that. “Everybody got together to try to get the right man in for the job and the right coaching staff.”
