Keith ‘doted on dying ex Anita’
HEARTBROKEN Keith Richards cared for old love Anita Pallenberg right up until her death at 73 last week.
The Rolling Stone’s ex stayed with him at his home in Sussex and was close to his partner Patti Hansen.
A friend of the rocker said: “Keith is an absolute diamond. He looked after Anita until the very end. He made sure she never had to worry about anything. He was very doting and tried to help her. He is heartbroken because he tried to save her so many times but this time he couldn’t.” In recent years, 73-year-old Keith said he would always love Anita and told of the pleasure they had found in becoming “proud grandparents”. the friend added: “Anita got on really well with Patti. They were all united friends.”
Keith and Anita had two children together – Marlon, 47, and Dandelion, 45. A third child, Tara, born in 1976 but died in his cot at 10 weeks.
Anita’s cause of death is not yet known but she fought drug abuse for years, suffered from hepatitis C and last year told how she was “ready to die”.
