Swiss court jails PR man for his wife’s stab murder
A HIGH-FLYING Irish business executive has been jailed for the murder of his wife in Switzerland.
Harry Ringwood, 50, stabbed Galina Shevechenko more than 60 times to stop her finding out about a probe into child sex offences.
Ringwood, originally from Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to the murder.
He admitted stabbing Ms Shevechenko at their apartment in the village of Lutry on March 23, 2015.
CRIMES
Ms Shevechenko had been asked to attend a police interview, unaware her husband was being investigated for sex crimes.
Ringwood emailed police, posing as his wife and said she could not attend.
He pulled a knife on Ms Shevechenko and stabbed her in the back before running a bath and taking an overdose.
He told the court: “I didn’t want her to leave me.
“She wouldn’t have put up with the shame of learning about this.”
Ringwood had a 2009 conviction for downloading indecent images of children.
He was a PR executive at Philip Morris and was fired once his bosses discovered his conviction.
