DEATH OF STAR WARS’ CARRIE TRIGGERED BY SLEEP APNOEA
STAR Wars actress Carrie Fisher died of sleep apnoea and a number of other factors, it has emerged.
However, a coroner could not come to a definitive cause of death for the 60-year-old.
Fisher suffered a heart attack on December 23 last year on a flight from London to Los Angeles, and died several days after.
Her mother, Debbie Reynolds, 84, passed away the next day after suffering a stroke. The Los Angeles County of Medical Examiner’s study also cited “multiple drug intake” and atherosclerotic heart disease.
A statement released on Friday said: “The manner of death has been ruled undetermined.”
The autopsy report will be released tomorrow. Fisher’s daughter Billie
Fisher Lourd told People: “My mom battled drug addiction and mental illness her entire life. She ultimately died of it. “She was purposefully open in all of her work about the social stigmas surrounding these diseases. “I know my mom, she’d want her death to encourage people to be open about their struggles.”
