Phelps’ race against Jaws

SWIMMING legend Michael Phelps is to race a great white shark.

The top Olympian with 23 golds will try to beat it in a televised showdown.

Phelps, 31, has a top swimming speed of 6mph. The great white cruises at 5mph – but can reach 25mph in attack mode, so he’d better not upset it.

“Great Gold v Great White” will be part of the Discovery Channel’s Shark Week next month. The race venue and format have yet to be revealed.
