IRELAND SIZZLES...

- BY DAVID COLEMAN news@irishmirror.ie

SUN worshippers were out in force yesterday as temperatures soared to 26C — and we are in for another great day today.

The mercury reached searing highs as families flocked to beaches and parks to soak up some summer rays.

After a cloudy and humid start to the week, the blissful weather we were all hoping for finally arrived. And it looks like today is going to be another scorcher.

Beer and ice-cream sales hit record levels as temperatures around the country climbed.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: “Sunday will be another warm and sunny day for many places with highs of 20C to 25C.” And it’s predicted that the blissful weather will continue into next week. The forecaster said: “On Monday and Tuesday it will be dry in most areas with some warm sunny periods. “Cloudier periods as well especially in Ulster, where some light showers may break out on Monday and possibly some showers later Tuesday in parts of the South West. “Wednesday will be warm and humid, with temperatures in the low to mid 20s. But it will turn fresher later in the day. “It will be fresher with temperatures returning to normal values by Friday.”

WITH the temperature hitting the high 20s from Dungarvan to Donegal, the prodigal sun has returned.

But unlike the biblical story, if there’s one thing we know for sure – it won’t hang around for long after coming back.

So wherever you are, get out and enjoy the warm weather while you can.
