Blue plaque accolade for famed cleric
A SENIOR clergyman has unveiled a Blue Plaque to honour the late Archbishop John Hughes.
The Ulster History Circle’s commemorative record praises people who have contributed to the culture, industry and history of Northern Ireland.
Archbishop Hughes was born in Annaloghan, Co Tyrone, and yesterday marked the 220th anniversary of his birth.
He emigrated to New York where he became the city’s first archbishop.
