OAP killed in road smash

AN elderly pedestrian was killed in an early-morning road crash yesterday.

The man, who was in his 80s, died after a car hit him at Logatemple in Claremorris, Co Mayo, at 1am.

The driver and two passengers in the vehicle were uninjured.

The pensioner’s body was taken to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar, where a postmortem was due to be carried out.
