Doomed to die

-

LAWLESS Bonnie and Clyde cheated justice for two years before meeting their inevitable fate on May 23, 1934.

After countless robberies across Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, their luck ran out when they were ambushed by lawmen.

The killers – whose gang was behind 13 murders – died instantly in a hail of gunfire near Sailes, Louisiana.

Clyde had 17 bullet entrance wounds and Bonnie 26. Just a month earlier they had killed three policemen.

Bonnie – married to another crook when she was just 15 – famously posed with a cigar in her mouth and a gun in her hand. She once manned a .30 calibre machinegun and rained down bullets on police to give covering fire during one escape from the law.
