EXHIBIT Life in the trenches

Get a taste of what life was like in the World War One trenches in a free immersive exhibition now open until July 16.

Echoes Across the Century, at Guildhall Art Gallery in the City of London, has been created by professional artist and set designer Jane Churchill. It is supported by the Lottery and features artwork by more than 200 school students aged six to 17.

Housed inside a replica of a Western Front trench, the walk-through exhibition explores stories of soldiers, ordinary people supporting the war effort behind the scenes and the families, friends and lovers left behind through more than 600 artefacts and artworks. Key pieces include recruitment posters and diary extracts.
