- Elida Joannou, 30, London

I’ve had bunions on my feet all my life and they’ve got worse with age.

A range of remedies failed and I’ve never been able to wear flip flops, while high heels were very painful.

Last year consultant orthopaedic surgeon Simon Moyes performed corrective surgery at The Wellington Hospital in London. I left the next day and, while bedridden and in a cast for the first two weeks, I was fully recovered and back at work as an interior stylist inside a month.

It was a painful recovery but my feet are better now. If they get stiff I just have to give them a quick massage and stretch.
