Jersey bid for glory
ENGLAND could be fighting tiny Jersey for a place in the 2022 World Cup.
Gibraltar have gained entry to major international tournaments – and now the small Channel Island is trying to follow suit.
Uefa booted out their initial application in 2015 – because they are not an independent state. But Gibraltar do not have that status, nor Bermuda, Anguillla or Montserrat, all British Overseas Territories.
So Jersey have decided to appeal and will this week argue their case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.
Jersey FA chief executive Neville Davidson said: “We want to get into Uefa, become members and move football forward.”
