ALBION ON STAND-BY

-

WEST BROM are keen to use The Hawthorns as part of a pilot scheme to reintroduce safe standing.

The Premier League contacted all 20 top-flight clubs about a trial to bring back standing, which was banned in 1994.

Albion’s director of operations Mark Miles said the club wanted to get involved.

“I have written back to the Premier League and told them our position remains that we would be very keen to be involved in a pilot,” Miles said.

“It is the same message I have delivered verbally at previous meetings.”

Miles believes the law regarding compulsory seating can be altered if there is evidence that supporters will not be endangered.

“This is something football will not be able to introduce without a change of legislation and that can’t happen unless it is proven to provide a safer option for fans to watch games,” added Miles.
