Kashmir pair shot dead in street battle

A WOMAN and a young man have been killed and several other people injured during anti-india protests in Indian controlled Kashmir.

Senior police officer Muneer Ahmed Khan stated that Indian troops came under fire from militants as soldiers laid a cordon around the southern village of Dialgam following a tip-off that rebels were hiding there.

After a brief exchange of shooting, a woman was killed in the crossfire.

Clashes then erupted in the village between locals and the troops during which a young man was killed and at least 16 people were injured.
