Orange Walk parades in Glasgow city

-

THOUSANDS took to the streets of Glasgow for the annual Orange Walks yesterday.

Around 4,500 participants in 63 bands marched through the city. The main County Grand Orange Order parade went from George Square to Glasgow Green, where a rally was held. Police warned of traffic disruption as major routes were closed off.

Police Scotland Superintendent Alan Murray said public safety was priority.

He said: “Experience shows it is the unwelcome minority who use the event to drink too much and cause offence. We will not tolerate any sectarian or anti-social behaviour.”
