The 14-year-old, from Co Kildare, gave the performance of the night with her version of Stooshe’s Slip winning over the packed crowd.

Coaches Pixie Lott and Mcfly frontman Danny Jones were both determined to have her on their team – but she opted to go with producer will.i.am instead.

Having made it through the blind auditions, Marby, who lives in Allenwood, is getting ready for the battle round of the talent show.

She told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “It was scary and exciting all at the same time. I really enjoyed rehearsing with the band, that was great fun and they were brilliant.

“When it came to the performance I was really nervous because I thought I was going to get out of tune. But I rehearsed for my mam backstage just before I went on and she gave me some tips on how to stay calm.”

TIPS

Marby, who travelled to London with her mum Maria, sister Angelica, nine, and three-year-old brother Arthur, said she’s putting the voice coaches’ tips into practice.

She added: “It was really unexpected when they all turned around but I went with will.i.am because he’s a producer and I loved the Black Eyed Peas. I can’t wait for the next round. I’m practising like mad.”

Marby joins Dubliner Devon Browne, 12, and 13-year-old Nathan Johnson from Co Down in the next round of the competition with a €34,000 bursary and family holiday to Disneyland up for grabs. Mum Maria, who comes from the Philippines, said: “When she started singing I don’t even know who turned first it all happened so quick. It was very emotional watching it, we were so proud.

“Her three-year-old brother got so excited backstage he was shouting at her to ‘go’ when he saw her on screen.

“She’s been singing all her life. We used to call her our alarm clock because she wakes up in the morning and she won’t stop singing.”
