Low squad on a high
GERMANY boss Joachim Low says reaching the Confederations Cup final justifies his squad selection.
Low was criticised for the group he took to Russia, with just three of the 2014 World Cup-winning squad.
This week, a Germany Under-21s team – depleted by Cup call-ups – won the Euro 2017 tournament.
Low said: “I feel vindicated. We have really outdone expectations here. The players have developed – and that was the most important task.”
Germany’s success is no surprise to Chile and Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal.
He said: “Everyone was talking about this being their second side, but Germany have players who are in outstanding physical condition.”
