Peace process in real jeopardy

-

IRISH and UK leaders need to wake up to the danger of the power-sharing stand-off in the North.

Yesterday Sinn Fein President Gerry Adams warned it would be very unlikely tomorrow’s deadline will be reached, having already missed the original Thursday cut-off.

Sinn Fein say the DUP have not budged on key issues such as the Irish language Act or marriage equality.

Earlier this week, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and British Prime Minister Theresa May rejected calls to intervene in the talks.

Once again the needs of the North have been downplayed by the co-guarantors of the Good Friday Agreement.

But if the situation continues like this for much longer, there is real prospect that the peace process will be jeopardised.
