Ivanka takes Trump’s seat at G20 table
IN a bizarre move Ivanka Trump briefly took her father Donald’s seat at the summit of world leaders yesterday.
The US President had stepped away for a meeting with the Indonesian leader during the G20 meeting.
Ms Trump is officially employed as adviser to the President but absences at the G20 are usually covered by highranking state officials.
A BBC correspondent said he could not recall a similar precedent for Ms Trump standing in. Her father returned a short while later to resume his seat.
Ms Trump did not seem to make any major contribution to the key session on African migration and health during his absence.
A photograph of her at the summit tweeted by a Russian attendee sparked widespread criticism on social media.
Some users highlighted the fact she is unelected and questioned her credentials to be at such a senior diplomatic meeting.
