Delight as lucky Irish punter wins €29m on Euromillions
A LUCKY Irish Euromillions player woke up yesterday almost €29million richer after winning Friday night’s bank-busting jackpot.
Excitement has reached fever pitch all over the country as people are checking their tickets, and speculation mounts as to who is the winner of the mega amount.
The incred-means ible haul Irish Euromillions players have scooped more than €1billion in prizes since the game was launched in 2004. The most recent winner was a Dublin work syndicate who shared a gigantic €88.5million jackpot in January.
A National Lottery spokesman yesterday appealed to all Euromillions players to check their tickets to see if they have won the magic amount.
He said: “This is an incredible amount of money to win. We have no idea if it is one player or a syndicate.
“We are delighted to have another Irish winner of Euromillions.
“We urge all of our players to check their tickets to see if their numbers have come up.” The winning numbers are 11, 20, 35, 37, 45 and the bonus numbers are 3 and 6. The jackpot was €28,975,630.
National Lottery chief Dermot Griffin added: “We are absolutely delighted the jackpot has been won by an Irish player. This is a life-changing amount of money. Irish people have been huge supporters of Euromillions since it launched 13 years ago and the game has captured the imagination of players. “One third of all National Lottery sales, including Euromillions, goes to good causes all over Ireland.” Do you know who the lucky winer is or who sold the winning ticket?
