Jumping for Sheer joy!

- BY CLAIRE SCOTT

MORE than 300,000 tickets to Ed Sheeran’s Irish tour 2018 were sold yesterday – the biggest ever haul by an artist in Ireland in one day. Six of the concerts were sold out with just a few remaining tickets for the Phoenix Park gig on May 18. Sheeran, 26, will perform seven dates in Cork, Belfast, Galway and Dublin next May in his biggest Irish tour to date. The mega-tour culminates in two monster outdoor shows at the Phoenix Park and Dublin fans weren’t taking any chances getting tickets. Lorna Gallagher from Portmarnock queued in Spar, Malahide, from midnight last night for her tickets and she was not alone. Dublin brothers, Richie and Dave Larkin also queued from the early hours of yesterday. The Shape Of You hitmaker, who has strong family ties to Ireland, will also perform two stadium shows in Cork at the newly redeveloped Pairc Ui Chaoimh on May 4 and 5, two gigs at Pearse Stadium in Galway on May 12 and 13 and a show at the Boucher Playing Fields in Belfast on May 9. Dozens gathered along Galway’s Shop Street early on Friday, with several sharing pictures online of the queues.
