Mel B asks pals to help her buy new home

-

HARD-UP Mel B wants friends to help her raise €1.7million to buy a new home in America.

The ex-spice Girl is desperate to rebuild her life following her split with husband Stephen Belafonte. But sources close to the star – who has reportedly blown her €43million fortune – say she has had to turn to pals for help to rescue a house deal. Mel fears she will lose a six-figure deposit she put down. And the 42-year-old singer has also asked Simon Cowell to assure her she has a long term job on America’s Got Talent as she is only contracted for another year. A source said: “It’s well-known Mel’s finances are not great, but if the house deal falls through she’ll be in an even worse situation. She just can’t afford to lose any more cash. So she’s turned to pals in her hour of need.”

Mel is also trying to flog the Hollywood Hills house she shared with 42-year-old Belafonte. The property went on the market in March for €8.1m. She slashed the price by €900,000 just weeks later.

Inside the lavish four-bedroom property is a bar room, recording studio, theatre and a gym, which overlooks a swimming pool and a spa. Mum-of-three Mel’s financial difficulties came to light in a divorce hearing with last month.

Shocking details of how the pair have haemorrhaged money through “extravagant” lifestyles emerged.

Both have outstanding tax debts, Los Angeles Superior Court was told. Grace Jamra, for Belafonte, said: “She wiped out all her Spice Girls’ money, approximately $50million, if not more.” Other reports told how Mel has just €1,086 in one of her company’s bank accounts.
