Malala posts ‘bittersweet’ first tweet
TEENAGE Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai has announced in her first tweet that she has left secondary school.
Shot in the head by a Taliban gunman in 2012 for campaigning for girls’ education in her native Pakistan, she said it was “bittersweet” day.
She wrote on her new @Malala account, which gained hundreds of thousands of followers within hours: “Graduating is bittersweet for me.
“I’m excited about my future, but I know that millions of girls around the world may never get the opportunity to complete their education.”
Malala, 19, who hopes to study at Oxford, was at school in Birmingham, where she was treated after the shooting.
