100ft ladder 30 mins late for Grenfell
Burnt-out tower FIREFIGHTERS tackling the Grenfell blaze were hampered by the late arrival of a 100ft ladder.
The vehicle, which could have reached the 10th floor, arrived more than 30 minutes after the first crews, by which time flames were too high.
Rescuers told of low water pressure, poor radio reception and the lack of breathing gear needed to reach higher floors.
The stories came from an investigation by the BBC’S Newsnight into the fire that killed at least 80.
London mayor Sadiq Khan yesterday launched a probe into the claims.
