FOOTBALL finds itself on the cusp of a broadcast revolution – with the game likely to be screened live on social media soon.

The NBA in the US has already shown live matches on Facebook, while Twitter has streamed 10 matches in the NFL.

Now Simon Chadwick, professor of sports enterprise at Salford University, says: “It’s possible that in five years we may see sports content transmitted or sold by a company that doesn’t even exist at the moment.

“The way young people consume everything is changing and it’s inevitable that English football will have to keep up.”
