TIPP COME FROM BEHIND TO WIN

TIPPERARY came from behind to take a 2-15 to 0-18 win over CAVAN at Kingspan Breffni Park.

Cavan held a 0-12 to 0-6 interval lead, with Gearoid Mckiernan, Tomas Corr, Martin Reilly and Caoimhin O’reilly each contributi­ng two points.

Conor Sweeney kept Tipperary in touch with four first half points, and they dug in on the restart.

Sweeney bagged a penalty goal, while Robbie Kiely netted the Premier County’s second major, as Tipp turned the tide to finish three-point winners.

A late burst of scores saw ARMAGH over the line against WESTMEATH by 1-12 to 1-7 last night at TEG Cusack Park (inset).

The sides were tied at 0-7 to 1-4 at half-time, with Paul Sharry netting the Lake County’s goal.

Westmeath took a two-point lead on the restart, but Armagh equalised, and finished strongly with a brace of Oisin O’neill points and an injury-time Ethan Rafferty goal.

Goals were key, as CARLOW advanced to Round 3 of the All-ireland SFC Qualifiers, with a 2-14 to 0-13 win over LEITRIM at Netwatch Cullen Park.

Turlough O’brien’s charges netted both goals in the second half.

MONAGHAN claimed a comfortabl­e 3-23 to 1-10 win over WEXFORD.

Fintan Kelly and Karl O’connell goals helped Monaghan to a 2-10 to 0-5 half-time lead and Kieran Duffy also found the net.
