Family pain as Nobel winner ashes in sea
A CHINESE Nobel Peace Prize-winner’s ashes have been scattered at sea against his family’s wishes.
Liu Xiaobo’s brother said it was a move by the repressive state to erase any memory of the campaigner.
He had been imprisoned since 2009 after calling for more human rights.
The 61-year-old died of multiple organ failure on Thursday in a hospital in Shenyang, where he was being treated for late-stage liver cancer, having been given medical parole but not freed.
His widow Liu Xia has been under effective house arrest since her husband won the 2010 Peace Prize.
