Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City, Canada, is said to be the most photographed hotel in the world. Opened in 1893 by the Canadian Pacific Railway, it sits 180ft above the St Lawrence River and is a National Historic Site which hosted two Allied conferences in WWII attended by Churchill and Roosevelt. Even if you don’t stay there you can go on guided tours of the 611-room property, now operated by the upscale Fairmont chain. The 1608 bar is a bit special, and famous for its cheese selection.
