Irishman dies at Egyptian diving resort
AN Irishman has drowned at a popular diving district off the coast of Egypt.
It is understood the victim, who was in his 30s and believed to have been from Dublin, was diving in the sea when tragedy struck.
He was staying in the resort of Dahab on the Sinai Peninsula which is popular with backpackers who snorkel and dive in the Red Sea.
The man has yet to be formally identified and the cause of death was unknown last night.
The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance.
