Lynne & John

-

TRIM Lynne Collyer plunged six dress sizes – down from 20 to 14 – as she gave husband John moral support during his mega diet. Lynne, 68, dipped from 12st 4lb to 10st 9lb during the fight to beat John’s Type 2 diabetes. The couple cut out carbs and replaced their favourite white rice with shredded cabbage, cauliflower and courgettes. Lynne said: “We loved rice, pasta and bread, and it surprises me we don’t miss them as much as I thought. We just eat lots more vegetables and fish and meat and it’s made a real difference. “I feel really alert and the compliments I get from friends are just lovely.” Lynne, a retired civil servant, is so full of energy that she’s booked regular sessions with a personal trainer at her local gym. The couple, from Cheltenham, Gloucs, started dieting in October 2014 after John’s diabetes started to impair his sight. The former software developer once tipped the scales at 22st but is now half the man he was at 11st. He still has kidney dialysis three times a week due to irreversible damage, but his sight has improved. John, 70, said: “It’s a terrible condition. I was losing my sight, had no mental clarity and felt exhausted all the time. “But things have really turned around now and I feel better than I ever did.”
