1 in 4 hacking attacks now aimed at computer games

A QUARTER of all attempts to hack personal financial details are now aimed at popular computer game apps.

A study which monitored 100,000 phones and laptops found 26 per cent of phishing attempts targeted gamers. Hit games, including Top Eleven – Be a Soccer Manager, Star Wars: Tiny Death Star and Minecraft are all being hacked to get at bank accounts and credit cards. Experts warn Europe’s millions of gamers are increasing­ly at risk.

The study by data specialist Wandera found most other hacking was aimed at sports, weather, social media, messaging and dating apps.
