Pilot survives fighter crash

BAHRAIN airport was evacuated yesterday after a US fighter jet crashed on the runaway.

The pilot managed to escape unharmed after ejecting from the aircraft when it ran off the runway, authorities said.

Video footage showed smoke billowing from the US Navy F-18 Hornet as it laid on its side.

The country’s transport ministry confirmed no one was killed in the crash, adding: “The airport is dealing with the incident.”
