Reds back in the hunt for Perisic

- BY SIMON MULLOCK

MANCHESTER UNITED deal-maker Ed Woodward is trying to give Jose Mourinho his ideal summer by finally landing Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic.

Woodward has reopened talks with the Croatian’s agent Fali Ramadani in a bid to resurrect a transfer that seemed dead when Inter coach Luciano Spalletti insisted the 28-year-old was staying.

United have had two bids rejected but it is believed that Woodward is now close to meeting the £48million asking price.

Mourinho admitted on Friday that only 75 per cent of his transfer targets have been delivered – Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof.

And United are looking to finally get the Perisic deal finalised before the transfer window closes.

But reports that Barcelona will target Perisic, should they fail to land Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, may complicate the issue.
