Poch bids for glory Double

- BY STEVE STAMMERS

MAURICIO POCHETTINO has set himself the twin targets of Premier League and European glory.

Ahead of the baptism in Spurs’ adopted home of Wembley this afternoon, the manager made it clear that he will not rest until he takes the club to the top.

“I want to win the Premier League and the Champions League – they are the two most important trophies,” he said.

“I want them to be the best in England and the best in Europe. If one day, I am not capable to win the Premier League or we don’t have the chance to challenge for it. I think it will be very disappointing.”

Pochettino is aware of the Spurs heritage in the FA Cup and also the League Cup.

“I don’t say it is not important to win the Carabao Cup, or the FA Cup or the Europa League,“he added.

“But the Premier League and the Champions League — that is what I want for Tottenham,” he said.

One topic that has dominated the headlines in recent weeks has been player power, especially Chelsea’s Diego Costa.

And Pochettino said: “It is very dangerous if the players feel they are more important than the club and the fans.”
