52-POINT CAT ROUT
Kilkenny 8-35 Derry 0-7
TOMMY WALSH’S younger brother Shane tormented Derry as the Cats chalked up a 52 points win in the first of the All-ireland U-21 semi-finals at Semple Stadium.
The latest of the Tullaroan brothers was in devastating form as Eddie Brennan’s (inset) men romped home.
They will now hope to lift their first U-21 title since 2008 but will have learned little from this rout.
John Donnelly, Walsh and Richie Leahy struck goals as they raced into a 3-1 to 0-1 after just nine minutes. SCORERS - KILKENNY: S Walsh 2-7 (0-4f); J Donnelly 1-7; B Ryan 2-0; L Blanchfield 0-6; R Leahy 1-2; E Kenny & L Scanlon 1-1 each; A Murphy & J Walsh 0-3 each; N Mcmahon, D Mullen, S Morrissey, H Lawlor, R Bergin 0-1 each.
