KINAHAN CARTEL HAD CRACKS

Crimelord Christy to pull plug on Irish operation as his thugs turn on each other

- BY PAT FLANAGAN

CRIME boss Christy Kinahan is ready to turn his back on his Irish operation which is on the brink of imploding.

The Dubai-based cartel chief believes the Dublin faction is tearing itself apart – and risks destroying his billion-euro drugs empire.

It follows a number of massive seizures of drugs and cash, gang arrests and an attempted hit on one of their own associates.

A source told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “He believes they are out of control and more interested in revenge than making money.”

THE Kinahan cartel is tearing itself apart with gang members turning on each other after a series of spectacular successes by the Garda, it can be revealed.

Such is the infighting and mistrust, boss Christy Kinahan has “washed his hands” of the Dublin operation, blaming them for destroying his multi-million euro drugs business in the country.

A series of massive Garda busts and an attempted hit on one of their own associates has left the gang in the capital at the point of implosion.

And it is understood billionaire boss Christy Kinahan has lost patience with the major Dublin-based crime family.

A source said: “The cash flow has stopped as there’s little or nothing moving because of the increase in Garda activity in the past year or so.

“The local heads have put revenge above revenue and their boss is not happy with them because there’s no money being made.

“He [Christy Kinahan] blames them for bringing all this attention on themselves and is washing his hands of them.”

The source added gang members are convinced there is an informer in their ranks and are refusing to accept they are at fault for destroying their own drug business.

REVENGE

It has now got to the stage gang members are turning on each other. He added: “Christy Kinahan is a criminal but he’s in it for the money and when he sees his own people destroying his business he’s not going to be happy. “He believes they are out of control and more interested in revenge than making money.” The bloody feud with the Hutch family – in which 12 people have lost their lives – has forced gardai to mount roundthe-clock surveillance operations, making it almost impossible for the cartel to operate its drugs business. The gang in the capital has suffered a number of major setbacks in recent weeks including the seizure of cannabis and heroin worth €4million in Ballyfermot. There was also a botched hit on a former associate which resulted in arrests. Meanwhile, gardai seized €1.2million in cash at a checkpoint in Co Carlow on Friday. Shortly before 8pm they stopped a car at Ballyvergal, driven by a man in his 50s. Gardai searched the vehicle and discovered the cash, believed to be linked to Kinahan. A man was arrested by officers and was last night detained at Carlow Garda station.

THE huge Garda crackdown on the brutal Kinahan cartel is starting to take its toll on the drug-dealing empire.

Christy Kinahan is so worried about his Dublin faction tearing itself apart he’s prepared to wash his hands of them.

He sees them as hell bent on revenge ever since the murder of David Byrne in the Regency Hotel early last year.

And although he is a serious criminal, he thinks like a businessman. And a hard-headed businessman has no time for errant “employees” who could well bring down his entire operation.

Kinahan believes they should put emotion aside and concentrate on the job at hand – making millions from drug dealing.

But infighting and mistrust is now at such a level that the Dublin crew are turning on one another – they even ordered a hit on a fellow associate.

The huge success by gardai in taking down suspected key members coupled with massive seizures of drugs and cash have caused serious disruption for the cartel.

Gang members are now so paranoid they are hunting for informers in their own camp. Sources say they have become increasingly paranoid.

The cartel are a rotten, evil gang of thugs who have made millions from the misery of countless Irish addicts.

It’s a good thing that the operation is unravelling every week.

Let’s hope the gardai have continued success in dismantling this empire and manage to put their leaders where they belong – behind bars.
