Hurricane Harvey wreaks havoc

-

HURRICANE Harvey struck Texas yesterday – the strongest to hit the States since 2005.

Winds of up to 210kph battered coastal areas, and as the storm charged inland, there were warnings of a major natural disaster. But it wasn’t just Harvey putting lives at risk. Confused alligators were seen roaming round driveways and hiding under cars.

Tens of thousands of people woke up yesterday to collapsed

buildings, downed trees and cars floating down the streets.

In Rockport, volunteer fire chief Steve Sims said: “We’re still hunkered down and can’t go anywhere.”
