Tesco blocks Aldi shop bid

GERMAN retail giant Aldi has been prevented from setting up shop in another Dublin location by Tesco.

An Bord Pleanala upheld Tesco’s appeal against a decision by Dublin City Council to give Dunmull Ltd the green light for a new Aldi store and a nursing home on the Malahide Rd at Clarehall in north Dublin.

Tesco has also tried to block the construction of a number of Lidl stores.
