Moyross most
THE All Island Deprivation Index, calculated with census data, ranks Moyross as the single most deprived of 23,025 areas in Ireland.
In 2014 Moyross parish priest Fr Tony O’riordan warned that levels of deprivation
and childhood adversity there were “off the Richter scale”.
It was earmarked for regeneration along with nearby St Mary’s Park, Ballinacurra Weston and Southill. Limerick Regeneration was set up in 2007 to overhaul the four notorious council estates in a €3billion scheme but this was later cut to €300million.
