Gardai probe OAP death in house blaze
AN elderly man died in a house blaze on Friday.
The victim, in his 80s, lost his life after his home near Buttevant, Co Cork, caught fire around 9.30pm.
Another man, who is in his 40s, was hurt in the blaze but his injuries are not life-threatening.
The fire was detected by neighbours who called gardai and the fire brigade.
A Garda spokesman confirmed: “Gardai and fire services attended the scene of a house fire at Knockbarry Cottages at approximately 21.30.
“The circumstances of the fire are under investigation. A technical examination will be carried out.”
