Rebels are aiming to double up
Galway v Cork Croke Park, 1.15pm
CORK are on the verge of a dream double of All-ireland underage titles.
The U-17s have already claimed the inaugural title at their grade and a third of that team is sed to line out in today’s minor decider.
Midfielder Daire Connery is the star talent and fired five points in the semi-final defeat of Dublin - a week after hitting half a dozen scores in the U-17 decider.
Cork haven’t won a minor title since 2001, but the vibes are positive after that U-17 win, the seniors’ Munster win and the reopening of Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
Boss Denis Ring said: “It’s a very good time to be involved in Cork hurling.”
Galway’s first game in the Championship was a 2-19 to 1-12 whipping of Clare but they had just a point to spare on Kilkenny in the semi-finals.
Enda Fahy hit their injury-time winner that day but Jack Canning, nephew of Joe, is their shining star.
He blasted 1-4 in that game and could make it a Canning minor-senior one-two on All-ireland final day.
