X Factor hopeful stranded by storm

- BY JANINE YAQOOB, Acting TV Editor

A CONTESTANT on The X Factor is stranded in the Caribbean due to Hurricane Irma.

Deanna Mussington, who performs a Whitney Houston song on tonight’s pre-recorded show, spoke of her fears after being caught up in the storm on the island of Anguilla, where she lives. Deanna says her home has been damaged but she and her family are safe for now.

“I stayed in with my family and prayed and hoped for the best for 10 hours – we came out of this alive, God bless,” she said. “Our property stood up strong. However, we got water damage and other damage from debris. “There’s no electricity or running water island-wide. We are in desperate need of financial aid. We all are distraught and displaced.” And she says the danger is not over yet. “Unfortunately, we are preparing for Hurricane Jose.” But she vows if she gets through to the next round of X Factor, nothing will stop her, adding: “I will swim to London if need be.”
