Fan taken ill in stands just before match

A FOOTBALL fan was rushed to hospital after taking ill at Windsor Park in Belfast yesterday.

The man is understood to have become sick in the North Stand before the game started.

He was treated at the scene before being transferred by ambulance to the Royal Victoria Hospital.

Linfield beat Glentoran 1-0 in the match.

An Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We got a call before 3pm for a medical emergency at Windsor Park.

“A man was treated by St John’s Ambulance before paramedics arrived and provided additional treatment.”
