NIMBLE TRIMBLE WITH A DOUBLE

-

ANDREW TRIMBLE crowned his 150th appearance for Ulster with a brace of tries to send them on their way to victory in Treviso.

Trimble (above), captaining the side 12 years to the day since he made his debut, touched down twice for Les Kiss’ men to lead 14-0 at the break.

They pushed on from there to get a third from new Irish international Jacob Stcokdale but were unable to seal a bonus point win for the second week in a row.

Trimble pounced for the first try of the game on nine minutes when he jumped on a loose ball off an attacking lineout to score. John Cooney has a tough act to follow in replacing Ruan Pienaar but the former Connacht scrum-half produced another top class display.

Cooney set Trimble up with a neat reverse pass after 24 minutes and added his third conversion when Stcokdale scored going into the final quarter.

But Ulster had to withstand a strong fightback by Treviso when Federico Ruzza scored off a lineout drive and then Ian Mckinley set up a tense finish for Ulster as he crossed for a try of his own in the 71st minute to set up a good finish.

However, Ulster did enough to hold on for a deserved win.
