Anti-jew chanting ‘must end’

- BY

CHELSEA have asked their own supporters to stop singing a song about new boy Alvaro Morata because of its anti-semitic content.

Blues fans could be heard belting out the chorus at regular intervals during their 2-1 victory at Leicester, in which Morata scored.

The song references Chelsea’s London rivals Tottenham who have a large Jewish following.

The away sang: “Alvaro, Alvaro. He comes from Madrid, he hates the f ****** Y***” .

However, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is himself Jewish and is Chairman of the Federation of Jewish Communities in Russia.

A spokesman for Chelsea said: “The club and the players appreciate the fans’ passionate support away from home. But the language in that song is not acceptable at all.

“We’ve spoken to Alvaro after the game and he does not want to be connected with that song in any way.

“Both the club and the player request the supporters stop singing that song with immediate effect.”

Morata scored Chelsea’s first goal and N’golo Kante added a second against his old club before Jamie Vardy’s penalty pulled one back for Leicester.
