Man knocked down in Malta

AN Irish man has been left with “grievous injuries” after being hit by a car in Malta yesterday.

The 35-year-old was knocked down in the resort town of Sliema where he lives on the Mediterranean island.

An ambulance was called and the man was taken to Mater Dei hospital for treatment.

Malta Police Force said he had been hit by a Volkswagen Golf driven by a 67-year-old woman, who also lives in the town.
